Sales at constant 2012 prices: results for May 2014


Measured in real terms (constant 2012 prices), wholesale trade sales decreased by 0,9% year-on-year in May 2014. Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 0,6% in May 2014 compared with April 2014. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,8% in April 2014 and -4,6% in March 2014.
Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 2,8% in the three months ended May 2014 compared with the previous three months.


Sales at current prices: results for May 2014


Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 7,7% in May 2014 compared with May 2013. The major contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (14,6% and contributing 3,3 percentage points); and
  • machinery, equipment and supplies (14,3% and contributing 1,9 percentage points).


Wholesale trade sales increased by 10,6% in the three months ended May 2014 compared with the three months ended May 2013. The major contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (14,7% and contributing 3,4 percentage points); and
  • machinery, equipment and supplies (22,5% and contributing 2,9 percentage points).
