Sales at constant 2012 prices: results for September 2013

Measured in real terms (constant 2012 prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 8,3% year-on-year in September 2013. Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 0,3% in September 2013 compared with August 2013. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,5% in August 2013 and 0,9% in July 2013.


Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 1,4% in the third quarter of 2013 compared with the previous quarter.


Sales at current prices: results for September 2013

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 15,3% in September 2013 compared with September 2012. The major contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  •  solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (15,4% and contributing 3,5 percentage points);
  • machinery, equipment and supplies (22,1% and contributing 2,9 percentage points); and
  • food, beverages and tobacco (16,4% and contributing 2,5 percentage points).

Wholesale trade sales increased by 14,2% in the third quarter of 2013 compared with the third quarter of 2012. The major contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (17,6% and contributing 3,9 percentage points);
    • machinery, equipment and supplies (15,8% and contributing 2,2 percentage points); and
  • food, beverages and tobacco (13,8% and contributing 2,1 percentage points).
