Wholesale trade sales in real terms decrease

Wholesale trade sales, at constant (2000) prices, for the three months ended May 2009 decreased by 10,0% compared with the three months ended May 2008, while sales for the corresponding period in 2008 increased by  9,5%. Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales, at constant (2000) prices, for the three months ended May 2009 decreased by 4,5% compared with the three months ended February 2009.

Wholesale trade sales, at constant (2000) prices, for May 2009 decreased by 10,0% compared with May 2008.

Wholesale trade sales, at current prices, for the three months ended May 2009 decreased by 8,5% compared with the three months ended May 2008. The major contributors to this decrease were dealers in solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (-30,5% and contributing -6,3 percentage points), dealers in metal and metal ores (-44,2% and contributing -2,1 percentage points).

Wholesale trade sales at current prices for May 2009 decreased by 12,7% compared with May 2008, while sales for the corresponding period in 2008 increased by 24,6%.
