Key findings: P5041.3 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, 2015

The value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) increased by 3,3% (R3 228,9 million) in 2015 compared with 2014. Two of the three major categories reported increases, namely residential buildings (contributing 3,5 percentage points or R3 343,7 million) and additions and alterations (contributing 1,1 percentage points or R1 077,1 million). Non-residential buildings reported a decrease (contributing -1,2 percentage points or -R1 192,0 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) increased by 7,3% (R3 876,8 million) in 2015 compared with 2014. Two of the three major categories reported increases, namely residential buildings (contributing 8,0 percentage points or R4 250,9 million) and additions and alterations (contributing 0,8 of a percentage point or R426,4 million). A decrease was reported for non-residential buildings (contributing -1,5 percentage points or -R800,5 million).
