Key findings: P5041.3 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, 2013

The value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) increased by 17,3% (R12 727,9 million) in 2013 compared with 2012. All three major categories reported increases, namely non-residential buildings (contributing 7,7 percentage points or R5 655,4 million), residential buildings (contributing 7,1 percentage points or R5 198,6 million) and additions and alterations (contributing 2,6 percentage points or R1 873,9 million). The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) increased by 15,3% (R6 932,2 million) in 2013 compared with 2012. All three major categories reported increases, namely residential buildings (contributing 6,3 percentage points or R2 852,1 million), non-residential buildings (contributing 4,6 percentage points or R2 065,0 million) and additions and alterations (contributing 4,4 percentage points or R2 015,0 million).
