The value of recorded building plans passed by the larger municipalities for 2011 amounted to R66 565,9 million. Residential building plans passed contributed the most to the total value of building plans passed (43,9%), followed by additions and alterations (32,1%) and non-residential buildings (24,0%).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities for 2011 amounted to R42 929,4 million. Residential buildings contributed 49,8% to the total value of buildings completed, additions and alterations 26,7% and non-residential buildings 23,5%.
