The value of recorded building plans passed by the larger municipalities for 2009 amounted to R64 244,2 million. Residential building plans passed contributed the most to the total value of building plans passed (38,7%), followed by additions and alterations (32,8%) and non-residential buildings (28,5%).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities for 2009 amounted to R53 974,2 million. Residential buildings contributed 48,2% to the total value of buildings completed, non-residential buildings 28,4% and additions and alterations 23,4%.
