The value of recorded building plans passed by the larger municipalities for 2007 amounted to R81 207,5 million. Recorded building plans passed for residential buildings contributed the most to the total value of building plans passed (54,0%), followed by additions and alterations (26,7%) and non-residential buildings (19,3%).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities for 2007 amounted to R46 378,8 million. Residential buildings contributed 62,8% to the total value of buildings completed, non-residential buildings 19,9% and additions and alterations 17,3%.
