The value of recorded building plans passed by the larger municipalities for 2006 amounted to R75 399,8 million. Recorded building plans passed for residential buildings contributed the most to the total value of building plans passed (54,7%), followed by additions and alterations (25,7%) and non-residential buildings (19,6%).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities for 2006 amounted to R38 835,0 million. Residential buildings contributed 67,2% to the total value of buildings completed, additions and alterations 17,8% and non-residential buildings 15,0%.
