The value of recorded building plans passed by the larger municipalities for 2005 amounted to R68 725,6 million. Recorded building plans passed for residential buildings contributed the most to the total value of building plans passed (57,1%), followed by additions and alterations (26,3%) and non-residential buildings (16,6%).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities for 2005 amounted to R32 718,0 million. Residential buildings contributed 70,0% to the total value of buildings completed, additions and alterations 16,0% and non-residential buildings 14,0%.
