The value of recorded building plans passed by the larger municipalities for 2004 amounted to R44 336,7 million. Recorded building plans passed for residential buildings contributed the most to the total value of building plans passed (60,1% or R26 655,4 million), followed by additions and alterations (25,4% or R11 245,7 million) and non-residential buildings (14,5% or R6 435,7 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities for 2004 amounted to R22 577,9 million. The largest contribution regarding buildings completed was reported for residential buildings (65,9% or R14 886,0 million), followed by additions and alterations (17,4% or R3 920,1 million) and non-residential buildings (16,7% or R3 771,7 million).
