Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, October 2020

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 38,9% (-R36 935,7 million) during January to October 2020 compared with January to October 2019. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-44,3% or -R9 114,2 million), residential buildings (-38,4% or -R18 735,6 million) and additions and alterations (-35,6% or -R9 085,9 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 48,3% (-R36 066,6 million) during January to October 2020 compared with January to October 2019. Decreases were recorded for residential buildings (-56,7% or -R25 394,6 million), non-residential buildings (-40,7% or -R7 690,9 million) and additions and alterations (-27,1% or -R2 981,1 million).
