Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, October 2019

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 6,1% (-R6 044,8 million) during January to October 2019 compared with January to October 2018. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (‑9,6% or -R2 135,1 million) and residential buildings (-8,1% or -R4 179,2 million). An increase was recorded for additions and alterations (1,1% or R269,5 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 25,6% (R15 209,3 million) during January to October 2019 compared with January to October 2018. Increases were recorded for non-residential buildings (31,5% or R4 523,8 million), residential buildings (28,9% or R10 036,2 million) and additions and alterations (6,3% or R649,3 million).
