Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, September 2019

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 6,9% (-R6 139,4 million) during January to September 2019 compared with January to September 2018. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (‑13,8% or -R2 821,2 million) and residential buildings (-8,6% or -R3 984,0 million). An increase was recorded for additions and alterations (3,0% or R665,8 million).    

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 28,5% (R15 136,0 million) during January to September 2019 compared with January to September 2018. Increases were recorded for residential buildings (33,7% or R10 466,3 million), non-residential buildings (33,1% or R4 229,4 million) and additions and alterations (4,8% or R440,3 million).
