Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, June 2019

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 6,1% (-R3 462,9 million) during January to June 2019 compared with January to June 2018. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-13,5% or -R1 762,7 million), residential buildings (-5,4% or -R1 576,5 million) and additions and alterations (-0,9% or -R123,6 million).

 

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 45,2% (R14 346,8 million) during January to June 2019 compared with January to June 2018. Increases were recorded for non-residential buildings (55,5% or R4 180,0 million), residential buildings (53,0% or R9 774,9 million) and additions and alterations (6,8% or R391,9 million).
