The value of building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 16,1% (-R2 445,6 million) during January to February 2024 compared with January to February 2023. Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-16,8% or -R759,7 million), residential buildings (-16,2% or -R1 305,6 million) and non-residential buildings (-14,7% or -R380,3 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 9,6% (-R715,6 million) during January to February 2024 compared with January to February 2023. Non-residential buildings fell by 41,5% (-R839,8 million). An increase was reported for additions and alterations (9,6% or R133,8 million).
