The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 8,3% (R5 948,4 million) during January to August 2022 compared with January to August 2021. Increases were recorded for additions and alterations (15,0% or R2 844,1 million), residential buildings (6,4% or R2 512,8 million) and non-residential buildings (4,6% or R591,5 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 25,3% (R9 211,1 million) during January to August 2022 compared with January to August 2021. Increases were recorded for additions and alterations (41,0% or R3 550,3 million), non-residential buildings (30,6% or R2 468,6 million) and residential buildings (16,2% or R3 192,3 million).
