The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 0,1% (-R96,1 million) during January to October 2018 compared with January to October 2017. A decrease was recorded for non-residential buildings (-8,3% or -R1 783,9 million). Increases were recorded for residential buildings (2,5% or R1 189,9 million) and additions and alterations (2,0% or R497,9 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 0,3% (-R205,9 million) during January to October 2018 compared with January to October 2017. A decrease was recorded for non-residential buildings (-24,3% or -R4 566,3 million). Increases were recorded for residential buildings (11,4% or R3 548,4 million) and additions and alterations (8,5% or R812,0 million).
