Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, October 2021

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 51,5% (R30 351,9 million) during January to October 2021 compared with January to October 2020. Increases were recorded for residential buildings (59,3% or R18 401,8 million), additions and alterations (50,4% or R8 300,5 million) and non-residential buildings (31,8% or R3 649,5 million).

                                                                                               

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 27,2% (R10 493,5 million) during January to October 2021 compared with January to October 2020. Increases were recorded for additions and alterations (43,6% or R3 508,7 million), residential buildings (36,0% or R6 970,5 million) and non-residential buildings (0,1% or R14,3 million).
