Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, September 2021
The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 59,9% (R29 961,0 million) during January to September 2021 compared with January to September 2020. Increases were recorded for residential buildings (70,9% or R18 397,5 million), additions and alterations (54,2% or R7 564,3 million) and non-residential buildings (39,7% or R3 999,2 million).
The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 30,3% (R9 785,3 million) during January to September 2021 compared with January to September 2020. Increases were recorded for additions and alterations (47,8% or R3 298,7 million) and residential buildings (43,0% or R6 816,9 million).
