Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, September 2018

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 2,0% (R1 638,2 million) during January to September 2018 compared with January to September 2017. Increases were recorded for residential buildings (5,9% or R2 438,9 million) and additions and alterations (2,2% or R470,8 million). A decrease was recorded for non-residential buildings (-6,5% or -R1 271,5 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 1,4% (R712,6 million) during January to September 2018 compared with January to September 2017. Increases were recorded for residential buildings (12,1% or R3 352,3 million) and additions and alterations (6,4% or R556,3 million). A decrease was recorded for non-residential buildings (-19,8% or -R3 196,0 million).
