Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, October 2017

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 4,2% (-R3 935,8 million) during January to October 2017 compared with January to October 2016. Non-residential buildings fell by 19,4% (-R4 780,5 million) and additions and alterations rose by 7,0% (R1 604,9 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 20,2% (R9 934,2 million) during January to October 2017 compared with January to October 2016. The largest percentage increase was recorded for non-residential buildings (41,4% or R5 500,5 million), followed by residential buildings (12,7% or R3 488,0 million) and additions and alterations (11,0% or R945,7 million).
