Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, August 2017

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 2,4% (-R1 759,1 million) during January to August 2017 compared with January to August 2016. Non-residential buildings fell by 14,3% (-R2 769,5 million) and additions and alterations rose by 7,4% (R1 294,4 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 16,4% (R6 294,2 million) during January to August 2017 compared with January to August 2016. The largest increase was recorded for residential buildings (18,4% or R3 805,7 million), followed by non-residential buildings (14,6% or R1 613,3 million) and additions and alterations (13,3% or R875,1 million).
