Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, May 2017
Building Statistics
The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 12,9% (-R5 813,1 million) during January to May 2017 compared with January to May 2016. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-34,2% or -R4 458,7 million) and residential buildings (-7,6% or -R1 658,1 million).
The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 10,7% (R2 585,5 million) during January to May 2017 compared with January to May 2016. Residential buildings rose by 22,4% (R2 867,5 million).
