Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, November 2016

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 6,5% (R6 055,7 million) during January to November 2016 compared with January to November 2015. All three major building categories recorded increases. The largest percentage increase was recorded for non-residential buildings (10,5% or R2 346,8 million), followed by residential buildings (5,6% or R2 598,4 million) and additions and alterations (4,6% or R1 110,5 million).


The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 6,5% (R3 363,4 million) during January to November 2016 compared with January to November 2015. All three major building categories recorded increases. The largest percentage increase was recorded for non-residential buildings (13,0% or R1 721,0 million), followed by additions and alterations (6,3% or R568,4 million) and residential buildings (3,7% or R1 074,1 million).
