Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, September 2016

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 1,3% (R1 033,1 million) during January to September 2016 compared with January to September 2015. Residential buildings rose by 3,3% (R1 248,6 million), while non-residential buildings fell by 3,0% (-R590,5 million).


The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 10,0% (R4 039,7 million) during January to September 2016 compared with January to September 2015. Non-residential buildings rose by 29,0% (R2 775,8 million). There were large year-on-year increases in completions of non-residential buildings in KwaZulu-Natal (R1 618,3 million) and Gauteng (R1 613,4 million).
