Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, April 2015

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased by 1,3% (R289,0 million) year-on-year during January to April 2015. Increases were recorded for residential buildings (15,0% or R1 579,0 million) and additions and alterations (2,2% or R135,4 million). Non-residential buildings fell by 23,9% (-R1 425,4 million).

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 7,8% (-R1 058,2 million) year-on-year during January to April 2015. Decreases were reported for non-residential buildings (-27,3% or -R1 063,7 million) and additions and alterations (-7,4% or -R201,6 million). Residential buildings rose by 3,0% (R207,1 million).
