The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased by 0,8% (R349,4 million) year-on-year during January to July 2014. Residential buildings (6,0% or R1 145,6 million) was the only positive contributor to the increase.

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 13,1% (-R3 512,1 million) year-on-year during January to July 2014. Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-33,6% or -R2 311,7 million), non-residential buildings (-8,5% or -R612,3 million) and residential buildings (-4,6% or -R588,0 million).
