Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, May 2014
The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 1,7% (-R488,1 million) year-on-year during January to May 2014. Non-residential buildings (-14,2% or -R1 170,7 million) was the largest contributor to the decrease.
The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 11,6% (-R2 220,9 million) year-on-year during January to May 2014. Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-27,7% or -R1 409,5 million), non-residential buildings (-12,0% or -R615,5 million) and residential buildings (-2,2% or -R195,9 million).
