Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, April 2014

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased by 0,1% (R18,2 million) year-on-year during January to April 2014. Residential buildings (8,8% or R878,9 million) was the only positive contributor. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-10,1% or -R658,0 million) and additions and alterations (-3,2% or -R202,6 million).

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 9,9% (-R1 520,4 million) year-on-year during January to April 2014. Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-29,4% or
-R1 216,3 million), non-residential buildings (-4,4% or -R173,5 million) and residential buildings (-1,8% or -R130,6 million).
