Key findings: P4141 - Electricity generated and available for distribution, December 2023
Electricity generation (production) increased by 4,3% year-on-year in December 2023. Total electricity generation was 4,4% lower in 2023 compared with 2022. The 4,4% decrease in annual electricity generation followed a decrease of 3,8% in 2022 and an increase of 2,0% in 2021.Seasonally adjusted electricity generation increased by 1,1% in December 2023 compared with November 2023. This followed month-on-month changes of -2,3% in November 2023 and 3,8% in October 2023. Seasonally adjusted electricity generation increased by 2,7% in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared with the third quarter of 2023.
Electricity distribution (consumption) increased by 4,6% year-on-year in December 2023. Total electricity distribution was 4,0% lower in 2023 compared with 2022. The 4,0% decrease in annual electricity distribution followed a decrease of 2,8% in 2022 and an increase of 2,3% in 2021. Seasonally adjusted electricity distribution increased by 1,9% month-on-month in December 2023, following month-on-month changes of -1,9% in November 2023 and 3,9% in October 2023. Seasonally adjusted electricity distribution increased by 2,6% in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared with the third quarter of 2023.
