Key findings: P4141 - Electricity generated and available for distribution, December 2016

Electricity generation (production) increased by 0,8% year-on-year in December 2016.Total electricity generation was 0,9% higher in 2016 compared with 2015. The 0,9% increase in annual electricity production followed a decrease of 2,0% in 2015 and a decrease of 0,6% in 2014.Seasonally adjusted electricity generation increased by 0,4% in December 2016 compared with November 2016. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,3% in November 2016 and 1,4% in October 2016. Seasonally adjusted electricity generation increased by 0,9% in the fourth quarter of 2016 compared with the third quarter of 2016.

Electricity distribution (consumption) decreased by 1,0% year-on-year in December 2016. Total electricity consumption was 1,2% lower in 2016 compared with 2015. The 1,2% decrease in annual electricity consumption followed a decrease of 1,5% in 2015 and an increase of 0,2% in 2014. Seasonally adjusted electricity distribution increased by 0,1% month-on-month in December 2016, following month-on-month changes of -0,4% in November 2016 and 1,1% in October 2016. Seasonally adjusted electricity distribution increased by 1,0% in the fourth quarter of 2016 compared with the third quarter of 2016.
