Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, February 2020

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 79,3% in February 2020 compared with 80,8% in February 2019, a decrease of 1,5 percentage points.

Nine of the ten manufacturing divisions showed decreases in utilisation of production capacity in February 2020 compared with February 2019. The largest decreases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-3,1 percentage points);
  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-1,8 percentage points);
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-1,6 percentage points);
  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (-1,3 percentage points);
  • food and beverages (-1,2 percentage points);
  • textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (-1,2 percentage points); and
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-1,2 percentage points)

Rates of utilisation of production capacity of 80% and higher were reported in the following divisions in February 2020:

  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (82,6%);
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (81,8%);
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (80,7%);
  • food and beverages (80,2%) and;
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (80,0%)
