Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, August 2019

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 80,3% in August 2019 compared with 81,1% in August 2018, a decrease of 0,8 of a percentage point.

Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions showed decreases in utilisation of production capacity in August 2019 compared with August 2018. The largest decreases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • glass and non-metallic minerals (-6,0 percentage points);
  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-2,7 percentage points);
  • textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (-1,7 percentage points); and
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-0,9 of a percentage point).

 The largest increase was recorded in the food and beverages division (1,3 percentage points).

 The highest rates of utilisation of production capacity in August 2019 were reported in the following divisions:

  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (83,3%);
  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (83,2%);
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (82,2%);
  • food and beverages (82,1%);
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (81,7%); and
  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (80,3%).
