Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, February 2024

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 78,5% in February 2024 compared with 77,8% in February 2023, an increase of 0,7 of a percentage point.

 

Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions showed increases in utilisation of production capacity in February 2024 compared with February 2023. The largest increases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (1,3 percentage points);
  • electrical machinery (0,9 of a percentage point);
  • textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (0,8 of a percentage point);
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (0,8 of a percentage point); and
  • food and beverages (0,7 of a percentage point).

 

The highest rates of utilisation of production capacity were recorded in the following divisions in February 2024:

  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (80,6%);
  • food and beverages (80,5%);
  • electrical machinery (79,9%);
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (79,6%); and
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (79,5%).
