Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, November 2022

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 79,2% in November 2022 compared with 78,8% in November 2021, an increase of 0,4 of a percentage point.

                   

Six of the ten manufacturing divisions showed increases in utilisation of production capacity in November 2022 compared with November 2021. The largest increases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (3,6 percentage points);
  • textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (2,4 percentage points);
  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (1,4 percentage points); and
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (1,4 percentage points).

 

In 2022 the utilisation of production capacity was 78,1%, an increase of 0,5 of a percentage point from 77,6% in 2021.

 

The largest increases in 2022 compared with 2021 were recorded in the following divisions:

  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (4,3 percentage points);
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (3,2 percentage points);
  • food and beverages (1,5 percentage points); and
  • textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (1,5 percentage points).
