Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, August 2022

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 78,3% in August 2022 compared with 78,0% in August 2021, an increase of 0,3 of a percentage point.

 

Six of the ten manufacturing divisions showed increases in utilisation of production capacity in August 2022 compared with August 2021. The largest increases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (5,1 percentage points);
  • textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (2,4 percentage points);
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (1,6 percentage points);
  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (1,3 percentage points); and
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (0,8 of a percentage point).

 

Rates of utilisation of production capacity higher than 80% were reported in the following divisions in August 2022:

  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing products (83,0%);
  • food and beverages (82,2%); and
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (80,6%).
