Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, May 2021

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 78,6% in May 2021 compared with 59,8% in May 2020, an increase of 18,8 percentage points.

 

All of the manufacturing divisions showed increases in utilisation of production capacity in May 2021 compared with May 2020. The largest increases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (42,7 percentage points);
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (34,2 percentage points);
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (34,1 percentage points);
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (24,8 percentage points);
  • textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (24,6 percentage points); and
  • electrical machinery (24,6 percentage points).


The following divisions recorded rates of utilisation of production capacity above 80% in May 2021:

  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (82,5%);
  • food and beverages (81,7%);
  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (81,1%); and
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (80,4%).
