Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, February 2021

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 74,0% in February 2021 compared with 77,5% in February 2020, a decrease of 3,5 percentage points.

 

Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions showed decreases in utilisation of production capacity in February 2021 compared with February 2020. The largest decreases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-12,9 percentage points);
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (-2,3 percentage points);
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (-1,9 percentage points); and
  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-1,8 percentage points).

                                                  

The highest rates of utilisation of production capacity were reported in the following divisions in February 2021:

  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (82,0%);
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (81,1%);
  • electrical machinery (79,7%); and
  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (78,5%).
