Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, November 2019

Manufacturing production decreased by 3,6% in November 2019 compared with November 2018. Nine of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period. The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·         wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-9,3% and contributing -1,1 percentage points);

·         motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-10,0% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point);

·         petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-2,6% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point);

·         textiles, clothing, leather and footwear (-13,3% and contributing -0,4 of a percentage point); and

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-2,5% and contributing -0,4 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 1,5% in November 2019 compared with October 2019. This followed month-on-month changes of 2,5% in October 2019 and -2,4% in September 2019.


Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production was flat in the three months ended November 2019 compared with the previous three months. Three of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

The largest positive contribution was made by the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (5,8% and contributing 1,2 percentage points). The largest negative contribution was made by the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (-9,4% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point).
