Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, June 2019

Manufacturing production decreased by 3,2% in June 2019 compared with June 2018. The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·         petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-7,7% and contributing -1,7 percentage points);

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-5,1% and contributing -1,0 percentage point); and

·         wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-4,9% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point).

The largest positive contribution was made by the food and beverages division (3,7% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 1,5% in June 2019 compared with May 2019. This followed month-on-month changes of -1,9% in May 2019 and 2,4% in April 2019.


Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,6% in the second quarter of 2019 compared with the first quarter of 2019. Four of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·         food and beverages (1,6% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point);

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (1,3% and contributing 0,2 of a percentage point); and

·         motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (3,4% and contributing 0,3 of a percentage point).

The largest negative contribution was made by the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (-1,3% and contributing -0,3 of a percentage point).
