Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, November 2018

Manufacturing production increased by 1,6% in November 2018 compared with November 2017. The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

  • food and beverages (5,2% and contributing 1,4 percentage points); and
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (6,2% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point).

A noteworthy negative contribution was reported by the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-1,7% and contributing -0,3 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,7% in November 2018 compared with October 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,1% in October 2018 and -0,8% in September 2018.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,8% in the three months ended November 2018 compared with the previous three months. Seven of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

The largest contributions to the 0,8% increase in the three months ended November 2018 were made by the following divisions:

  • food and beverages (1,0% and contributing 0,3 of a percentage point); and
  • petroleum, chemicals, rubber and plastic products (0,9% and contributing 0,2 of a percentage point).
