Production: results for June 2024

 

Manufacturing production decreased by 5,2% in June 2024 compared with June 2023. The following divisions made the largest negative contributions:

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-8,4% and contributing -1,8 percentage points);

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-15,6% and contributing -1,6 percentage points); and

·        food and beverages (-6,0% and contributing -1,4 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 0,5% in June 2024 compared with May 2024. This followed month-on-month changes of -3,6% in May 2024 and 5,5% in April 2024.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,9% in the second quarter of 2024 compared with the first quarter of 2024. Six of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

 

The following divisions made the largest positive contributions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (4,5% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point);

·        food and beverages (1,5% and contributing 0,3 of a percentage point); and

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (1,5% and contributing 0,3 of a percentage point).

 

 

Sales: results for June 2024

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 0,4% in June 2024 compared with May 2024. This followed month-on-month changes of -3,5% in May 2024 and 5,8% in April 2024.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 1,9% in the second quarter of 2024 compared with the first quarter of 2024. The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (5,3% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point); and

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (3,4% and contributing 0,7 of a percentage point).
