Production: results for June 2023

Manufacturing production increased by 5,5% in June 2023 compared with June 2022. The largest contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (19,5% and contributing 1,8 percentage points);

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (7,5% and contributing 1,6 percentage points); and

·        food and beverages (5,8% and contributing 1,3 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 1,2% in June 2023 compared with May 2023. This followed month-on-month changes of -1,3% in May 2023 and 0,9% in April 2023.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 2,3% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the first quarter of 2023. Nine of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

The largest contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (4,1% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point); and

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (4,1% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).

Sales: results for June 2023

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales decreased by 0,5% in June 2023 compared with May 2023. This followed month-on-month changes of -2,8% in May 2023 and -0,6% in April 2023.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 0,6% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the first quarter of 2023. The largest positive contributions were made by the follow divisions:

·        food and beverages (2,5% and contributing 0,6 of a percentage point); and

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (2,7% and contributing 0,6 of a percentage point).
