Production: results for December 2021

Manufacturing production decreased by 0,1% in December 2021 compared with December 2020. The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-8,0% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point); and

·        petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-2,3% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point).

 

The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (5,0% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point); and

·        electrical machinery (23,4% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 2,3% in December 2021 compared with November 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of 4,9% in November 2021 and -5,4% in October 2021.

 

In 2021, total manufacturing production increased by 6,4% compared with 2020. Nine of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period. The largest contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (34,1% and contributing 2,6 percentage points);

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (9,9% and contributing 1,9 percentage points);

·        food and beverages (6,1% and contributing 1,5 percentage points); and

·        wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (9,9% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 2,5% in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared with the third quarter of 2021. Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (6,0% and contributing 1,3 percentage points); and

·        food and beverages (3,2% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).

 

The largest negative contribution was made by the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-4,0% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point).

 

Sales: results for December 2021

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 2,8% in December 2021 compared with November 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of 8,7% in November 2021 and -6,3% in October 2021.
