Production: results for September 2021

 

Manufacturing production increased by 1,3% in September 2021 compared with September 2020. The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (13,4% and contributing 1,3 percentage points);

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (4,0% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point);

·        food and beverages (2,3% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point); and

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (6,3% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point).

 

The largest negative contribution was made by the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (-8,8% and contributing -2,1 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 3,8% in September 2021 compared with August 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of 7,1% in August 2021 and -8,1% in July 2021.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 3,9% in the third quarter of 2021 compared with the second quarter of 2021. Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period.

 

The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-18,1% and contributing -1,9 percentage points);

·        food and beverages (-4,4% and contributing -1,1 percentage points); and

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-2,2% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point).

 

 

Sales: results for September 2021


Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 3,6% in September 2021 compared with August 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of 8,6% in August 2021 and -12,7% in July 2021.
