Production: results for June 2021

 

Manufacturing production increased by 12,5% in June 2021 compared with June 2020. The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (84,1% and contributing 4,9 percentage points);

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (19,2% and contributing 3,5 percentage points);

·        wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (22,8% and contributing 2,3 percentage points);

·        food and beverages (5,9% and contributing 1,9 percentage points); and

·        furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (73,5% and contributing 1,4 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 0,7% in June 2021 compared with May 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of -2,0% in May 2021 and -1,4% in April 2021.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 1,0% in the second quarter of 2021 compared with the first quarter of 2021. Six of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period.

 

The largest negative contribution was made by the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (-7,3% and contributing -1,4 percentage points) and the largest positive contribution was made by the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (3,0% and contributing 0,6 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales decreased by 0,3% in June 2021 compared with May 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,2% in May 2021 and -2,6% in April 2021.
