Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, November 2017

Manufacturing production increased by 1,7% in November 2017 compared with November 2016. This increase was mainly due to higher production in the following divisions:

  • food and beverages (6,0% and contributing 1,5 percentage points); and
  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (4,6% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,9% in November 2017 compared with October 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,8% in October 2017 and -1,0% in September 2017.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,5% in the three months ended November 2017 compared with the previous three months. Five of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

The largest contributions to the 0,5% increase were made by the following divisions:

  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (2,9% and contributing 0,7 of a percentage point);
  • food and beverages (1,1% and contributing 0,3 of a percentage point); and
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-4,5% and contributing -0,3 of a percentage point).
