Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, February 2017

Manufacturing production decreased by 3,6% in February 2017 compared with February 2016. This decrease was mainly due to lower production in the following divisions:
• petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-6,6% and contributing -1,6 percentage points);
• food and beverages (-3,6% and contributing -0,9 of a percentage point);
• glass and non-metallic mineral products (-9,3% and contributing -0,3 of a percentage point); and
• wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-2,4% and contributing -0,3 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 0,4% in February 2017 compared with January 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,6% in January 2017 and 0,0% in December 2016.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 0,8% in the three months ended February 2017 compared with the previous three months. Six of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period.

The following divisions made the largest negative contributions to the 0,8% decrease:
• petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-2,2% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point); and
• glass and non-metallic mineral products (-6,0% and contributing -0,2 of a percentage point).
