Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, September 2015

Manufacturing production increased by 0,9% in September 2015 compared with September 2014. The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (5,5% and contributing 1,2 percentage points); and
  • food and beverages (2,1% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point).

Large negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-9,0% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point); and
  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-3,8% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 2,2% in September 2015 compared with August 2015. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,6% in August 2015 and 0,0% in July 2015.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 1,4% in the third quarter of 2015 compared with the second quarter of 2015. Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

The main contributor to the 1,4% increase was the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (4,3% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point).
